As the flagship model of the Garmin Nuvi 2×5 series, the Garmin Nuvi 265WT GPS Navigator offers text-to-speech functionality, integrated Bluetooth, and free traffic service for life at very reasonable prices. Slim and simple in design, the Garmin Nuvi 265WT measures 12 centimeters wide by 7 centimeters high by 2 centimeters deep and weighs 173 grams. Fitted with a spacious 4.3-inch WQVGA touch screen offering 480 x 272 pixel resolution, the GPS displays maps and text with crystal clear clarity. The screen’s brightness is adjustable with maps switching automatically from day to night colors for the best viewing experience.
The Garmin Nuvi 265WT offers an easy-to-use interface featuring large icons with clear identifications, making everything fairly intuitive. The touch sensitive screen was responsive while the onscreen keyboard is available in QWERTY or ABC format. While the keyboard is a bit on the smaller side, the GPS has predictive text for fast results. The GPS has very few external controls with a single power/hold switch located on top of the system. The left spine features an SD card slot with a mini USB port located on the back.
The Garmin Nuvi 265WT offers a new HotFix functionality that automatically calculates and stores important satellite information for faster satellite acquisition and comes preloaded with various street-level maps and more than 6 million points of interest (POI). While the POI database already contains all the major categories you can also add custom POI and is compatible with MSN Direct services. The GPS offers you a choice of three route preferences which are for faster time, shorter distance, or off-road and three usage modes including automobile, bicycle or pedestrian. The Garmin Nuvi 265WT has a detour function to avoid specific parts of your route along with an FM traffic receiver that’s integrated into the body car charger.
Maps can be viewed in 2D and 3D with a zoom function and trip information page that displays your speed, direction, trip time, and other options. There’s also a trip log for past data and voice-guided turn-by-turn directions with text-to-speech functionality. The GPS also has a “Where am I?” feature, which gives you the coordinates of your location, the nearest address, and intersection, and lists the closest hospitals, police stations, and gas stations to your position. Other features include the Garmin Lock anti-theft feature, a world clock, currency and measurement converters and a calculator.
